Step-by-step guide to creating a new Microsoft Ads account through Portal.

Before you start

Make sure you have two things in place before you begin:

  1. A Microsoft Ads manager account (MCC) — this is the manager account Portal will create the new ad account under.
  2. Your MCC linked to Opteo — head to Linked Accounts in Opteo and connect it. Portal needs this to create accounts on your behalf.

1. Fill out the create account form

  1. Open Portal in Opteo (the dotted hexagon icon in the left sidebar)
  2. Click Add Account +
  3. Select your Microsoft connection email — this is the email that'll receive a Super Admin invite
  4. Fill out the account details form
  5. Enter your client's first name, surname, and email to invite them as a Super Admin straight away (optional but recommended)
  6. Click Create Account

The currency, time zone, and language can't be changed once submitted — double-check these before clicking Create Account.

2. Accept your invitation

Once the account is created, Microsoft sends an invite to the email you selected.

  1. Check your inbox for an email from Microsoft
  2. Look for the subject line: Invitation to Microsoft Advertising
  3. Click the link and accept — you'll be added as a Super Admin
  4. If you invited your client, give them a heads up to do the same

3. Finish setup inside Microsoft Ads

Almost there. Log into Microsoft Ads and complete the final steps inside the new account.

  1. Open the new ad account in Microsoft Ads
  2. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete business verification
  3. Add a payment method

How the account is set up

When you create a Microsoft Ads account through Portal, it's set up inside its own dedicated manager account (MCC) — standalone and independent. It's not owned by Opteo, and it's not tied to any existing agency MCC.

You and your client are both invited as Super Admins with full ownership and billing access from day one. Opteo's MCC is linked in the background for programme tracking purposes only — it has no impact on how the account runs.
